Nuke Mecca!

Over this past weekend Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo (R) told a Florida radio host that the U.S. could "take out" Islamic holy sites if Muslims set off a nuclear weapon in the United States of America. The comments on WFLA-AM in Orlando came as host Pat Campbell asked the Littleton rep was asked for a response. "Well, what if you said something like -- if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extrmist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites."

The host then stated "You're talking about bombing Mecca,' and Tancredo replied "Yeah."

I fully expect over the next few days for liberals to decry the comments. These comments which were purely hypothetical will be exagerrated in the Arab press as if this is somehow the absolute plan.

The thing of it is, what is the real problem with the comments? During the Cold War this nation sat under the constant threat of nuclear holocaust from the Warsaw Pact. Our response was a policy called Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD). National policy at that time was that any attack on the west with nuclear weaspons would be met with a massive retaliatory strike against the Soviet Union. The guarantee of utter destruction meant that no side would risk actually using such weapons.

Today Islamic Fascists attack with near impunity. They get a free pass from the Arab press and by and large from Muslim populations in the west. Meanwhile liberals like to draw comparisons between these terrorist monsters and Christians. The comparisons are of course insane. Is there any real doubt that if a group of Southern Baptists were bombing day care centers in Riyadh that Conservative Christians in this country would root them out and shout them down from the pulpits? Well maybe someone who is insane doubts this, but not I.

I don't know if I support the literal idea of threatening the Islamic world with nuclear winter, but the idea does have some utility. Threaten them with losing that which they hold most dear and perhaps we will see better cooperation. We might even get better cooperation from our Saudi "allies." Afterall, it is the state of Saudi Arabia that sits as the motherland for Wahabbi Islam. The supposed religion of peace has Moslems murdering each other and taking anyone close with them in large bundles on a daily basis.

Perhaps the time has come to make the price for silence (akin to tacit approval) so extreme that the Moslems themselves begin to hunt down, shout out and defeat terror where it lives... in their homes.
